Answered Prayer #17606
In June 2019 I had been to a Christian ladies conference and throughout the weekend I heard the word 'community' mentioned a number of times.
My church family of 12 years was in a different town and while I was part of everything we did in that community I realised I'd lived and worked in my own community for 38 years but didn't really know anyone.
The word 'community' wasn't leaving me so I prayed and asked the Lord "what do you want me to do" Everything I then read seemed to point to a change of church and I began to realise it was something I needed to do. I also needed to know it was the right decision and I continued to pray about it.
I worried that if I left my church I wouldn't grow spiritually but the Lord reminded me about a rose bush my son had bought for me several years earlier. It has been dug up several times, changed position and been replanted yet still it grows and flourishes.
I read Jesus words "I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing (John 15:5). This was the answer I was waiting for - as long as I stayed close in my walk with Jesus, then wherever he placed me, I would grow.
I left the church that had been my home, for 12 years, for pastures new on New Year's Eve 2019. I joined my new church the first Sunday in January 2020. Three months later, lockdown.
Despite the pandemic, and the isolation I grew in my Christian walk and still at the age of 72 continue to do so. I now know a lot more people and I am part of a thriving church family that shares the love of God with others in our community. That simple prayer "Lord, what do you want me to do" was answered.
