“Within a few days he stopped having nightmares…”
I had a very scared 4 year old boy. When he was 18 months he was flying down slides head first and seemingly had not fear. But slowly he started getting more afraid of everything. He wouldn’t use a bike with training wheels as he was scared he would fall. He would not lean back in the toddler pool as he was scared he would drown (his words). Forget about going into the big pool. He had nightmares every night. Some were scary even for me. He would hide behind me and cry. At first I thought it was a developmentally normal stage of being a toddler but as he was approaching 5 years old I was more and more concerned as he should have been growing out of it by then. It was at that point I shared this with my church sisters at our regular Friday night Bible study. We prayed together and I continued to pray for him myself daily, for God to protect his mind, point his Holy Spirit into him and not to give him “a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. Within a few days he stopped having nightmares and within a few weeks he was not fearful anymore. I am so thankful that God heard our prayers, this is a testimony to how powerful prayer is.
