“My message arrived in the nick of time!”
I had been single all my life when, aged 41, I decided to seek prayer about what the future held for me. I was at the New Wine festival; the stranger I prayed with helped me deal with some unresolved hurt from my past that had left me with feelings of inadequacy. Even though I’d not specifically been asking about relationships, he said that he believed that God had someone for me (I’m not sure if he’s meant to say things like that!). I decided to take a chance on hope and added a profile to a Christian dating app. Within a month, I’d connected with someone – little did I know that she had decided to give the dating app just two more weeks before coming off it for good. My message arrived in the nick of time! We instantly recognised that we were very suited to each other. Four months later we were engaged, and at the time of writing we are 10 weeks away from our wedding. We have since discovered that many people had separately been praying for each of us, and their prayer intensity had increased in the months before we met, feeling that God was saying that this would be the year that our time of singleness would end. He is always working behind the scenes, not matter how we feel.
